Jakarta - Tsunami occurred in Palu after Donggala, Central Sulawesi, was rocked by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 SR (previously called 7.7 SR). Based on BMKG's observations, several ships had risen ashore due to the tsunami.

"After obtaining information from witnesses in the field and involved, (sea water) receded, and at low tide there were indeed several ships going ashore," said BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati at a press conference in her office, Jakarta, Friday (09/28/2018 )
BMKG had previously issued a tsunami early warning 5 minutes after the earthquake occurred. The earthquake centered in Donggala occurred at 17.02 WIB or 18.02 Western Indonesia Time.
The tsunami early warning was then ended at 5:36 p.m. or 18.36 after receiving information that the water had receded. The BMKG ensures that the tsunami has ended.

"So our warning ended 17.36 WIB. This was a tsunami and was finished, so the tsunami early warning was ended," said Dwikorita.
